High Intensity Discharge
Plastic-Coated, Shatter-Resistant HID Lamps
Shat-R-Shield, the creator of the first and
best safety-coated lamps, offers plastic-coated,
shatter-resistant metal halide, high pressure sodium and mercury
vapor HID lamps. These lamps are designed to be safely used in
open fixtures and are excellent for lighting large areas. HID
lamps are often used in street lighting, floodlighting,
industrial high bay, shopping malls, parks, and other commercial
lighting.
Benefits of Shat-R-Shield HID Lamps
- For use in open fixtures and to be burned
base up only. Open fixtures offer you greater flexibility,
reduced maintenance, less expense and are more attractive and
compact. Lenses on enclosed fixtures can reduce light output
by up to 10% and this light loss can be compounded over time
by a buildup of dirt, grime and insects on the lens.
- If the lamp is broken*, virtually all glass
is safely contained by the clear, tough coating.
- The coating reduces light output by less
than 1%, the lamps rated life is unaffected and the minimum
coating thickness is 5 mils.
- Coating resists breakage from thermal shock
and nothing sticks to the coating.
- Safe installation and disposal - you never
touch bare unprotected glass.
- USDA approved, meet FDA and OSHA
requirements and are NSF certified. *Only protective shrouded
lamps are resistant to metal halide non-passive failure.
METAL HALIDE
- Clear or Inside Frosted
- Standard - 400 watt and energy saving 360
watt. The 360 can be used in standard 400 watt fixtures, will
deliver nearly the same lumens as the 400 lamp (97%) and save
you 40 watts in energy usage.
- These lamps are newly designed and require
an external igniter (Pulse Start), they will not retrofit into
a standard fixture. The pulse start advantages include a more
transparent arc tube over life yielding less color shift and
higher lumen maintenance.
- These lamps are designed to self-extinguish
if the outer bulb is broken, to prevent long term exposure to
UV emissions from the lamp if it continues to burn. The lamps
are recommended and sometimes required for use in schools,
sports facilities and other places of public assembly where
the lamps may be subject to breakage by external objects.
- The combination of Shat-R-Shield’s
shatter-resistant coating on a protective shroud lamp offers
the greatest possible protection on the market. On rare
occasion metal halide lamps can suffer “non-passive failure”
(arc tube rupture). This is possible no matter which lamp or
manufacturer you choose. Shat-R-Shield Protective Shroud Lamps
contain a special quartz shield which is designed to contain a
ruptured arc tube and thereby minimize the risks. An
additional benefit with the quartz shroud is that, combined
with the thicker glass bulb wall, UV emissions from the lamp
are reduced by over 70%.
- These metal halide lamps are made to
operate on HPS ballast. They provide crisp, white light with
85+ lumen maintenance.
HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM
These lamps are the most efficient source of high intensity
light and are available in standard, inside frosted, non-cycling
environmentally safe, dual arc and retrofit versions. Their
efficiency is up to 140 lumens per watt and the light produced
is a warm golden color. Because of their yellow light output
they are frequently used in street lighting and other areas
where color rendering is not critical.
MERCURY VAPOR
Although many of these applications have been converted to the
much more efficient metal halide and high pressure sodium lamps,
we will still be able to satisfy your needs if you still use
these lamps. |
